We are a firm of Solicitors which has been at the heart of the Stranraer community for nearly 70 years. Ferguson & Company started in the 1950's and, after rebranding in 2000, we are proud to continue to provide advice and assistance to the people, executors, farmers, companies and extensive business community within Stranraer and beyond.

We are a progressive thinking Firm with a substantial client base - and we work very hard to keep it that way. We endeavour to deliver an outstanding service to all our clients by establishing a close working relationship and aim to provide our clients with the very best legal advice and guidance. We aim to offer a fast and efficient service to clients either personally, over the telephone or by email.

We cover all areas of Scots Law. We offer a full property service and assist private individuals and businesses alike in the purchase and sale of residential, commercial and agricultural property. In addition to this we offer a full court service, providing advice on all criminal and civil court matters. Ferguson & Company conduct business in the Sheriff Courts of Stranraer, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries, Ayr and elsewhere throughout Scotland. As well as this, we assist Counsel in the Court of Session and Appeal Court in Edinburgh and the High Court of Justiciary in Glasgow.

Our offices are located above the old Clydesdale Bank right in the heart of Stranraer's town centre. Free parking is conveniently located to the rear of our offices at Hanover Square Car Park. Home visits are also available for those who are unable to attend an appointment at our offices.

    Paul Feeney – LLB Dip L.P N.P

    Senior Partner

    Paul qualified from the University of Dundee in 1992. He gained experience in a busy litigation firm in Glasgow before coming to the Stranraer area in 1993. He has been actively involved with the local community for many years and spearheads this firm’s Sponsorship of Wigtownshire Rugby Football Club and Marr Rugby Football Club. His main area of expertise is Criminal Law and he has been involved in representing individuals and Companies in the Criminal Courts throughout Scotland and assisting Counsel in High Court Cases and Appeals of Sheriff Court decisions to the High Courts in Scotland. He also has an interest in contract law, reparation and personal injury and continues to represent several families in reparation proceedings following upon the Solway Harvester tragedy which hit the Local Community in January 2000



        Nyree Douglas – LLB (Hons) Dip L.P N.P


        Nyree Douglas is Head of our Conveyancing Department. She is a native of Stranraer. She qualified from the University Of Glasgow School Of Law in 2014, and thereafter completed her traineeship with a local firm, working in general practice. She joined the firm in October 2018 and now specialises in residential conveyancing work including the sale and purchase of property, transfer of title, re-mortgaging and Equity Release work and residential leases. She particularly enjoys guiding first time buyers through the process involved.


            Gregor Feeney – LLB Dip L.P N.P


            Gregor was born and bred in Stranraer before moving to Ayr with his parents at age 11. He attended Aberdeen University attaining his LLB in 2015 before moving on to Strathclyde for the Diploma.

            Gregor has a keen interest in all aspects of Criminal Law with a particular talent for Road Traffic matters. He boasts an excellent record in matters of Exceptional Hardship with a keen understanding as to the preparation required. Gregor can also assist in matters concerning contract law, privately funded family law, commercial leases and Insolvency.

            Gregor set up Ferguson and Company’s personal injury referral network with Digby Brown and works closely with the members of their Ayr branch. If you have a personal injury claim Gregor Is happy to take your instructions before liaising with our contacts in Ayr to provide an efficient service.





                Christine Fox

                Executry - Paralegal - Cashier

                Christine is a local individual who is actively involved in the local Business Community having ran her own Bar & Restaurant until 2017 and remains a Trustee with Stranraer Development Trust. She started her career with the firm in 1990 on the administration side, was thereafter supported by the firm to gain Qualifications through the Strathclyde University in Glasgow in 1999 and 2002 as a Legal Executive specialising in Wills and Executries and also Civil Litigation. She assists in the dealing with Executry Estates, the sale of property on behalf of Executors, preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Guardianship Applications involving Adults with Incapacity.

                Christine also runs the Cashroom within the Firm.
